Air Fryer Smashed Crispy Potatoes
Boiled then smashed and air fried until golden and crispy on the edges, creamy inside.
Ingredients
- 750g baby potatoes (or small waxy potatoes / krieltjes)
- 2tbsp olive oil
- 1tsp salt
- 0.5tsp black pepper
- 0.5tsp garlic powder

Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and let steam dry for a couple of minutes.

Place potatoes on a cutting board and press down with the bottom of a glass or mug until flattened to about 1cm thick. Don't worry if they break apart a bit.

Drizzle the smashed potatoes with olive oil and sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Flip and repeat on the other side.

Arrange in a single layer in the air fryer basket (work in batches if needed). Air fry at 200°C for 15-18 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy on the edges.
Notes
Krieltjes from AH/Jumbo are ideal. Try adding smoked paprika for extra flavour. When pairing with the BBQ ribs: start boiling when you uncover the ribs for glazing, and they'll be ready for the air fryer as the ribs rest.
